Hello, I am planning to repaint my living room, which is connected to an open kitchen, and would love your advice on choosing the right shade. My goal is to achieve a light, warm beige look throughout the space, while creating a limewash effect on two feature walls — the wall behind the TV and the adjacent wall — using LADY Minerals. I am attaching inspiration photos of the colour tone I would like to achieve, as I am currently struggling to identify the right shade within the Minerals range that would give this effect. My kitchen has a rather distinctive colour, so I am also attaching visuals of the furniture along with a photo of the actual kitchen in our apartment. Because of this, I am unsure whether the look I’m hoping for can realistically be achieved — and I would really appreciate your honest opinion on this. It may be that a warm beige tone could end up clashing with the kitchen colour. If achieving this look with a warm beige is not advisable in this space, I would be open to adjusting the direction and considering a lighter, less warm beige instead. In the rest of the living room, as well as in the hallway, I am planning to use the same colour but in a smooth finish (not limewash). Therefore, it is important that the shade I choose in LADY Minerals is also available in another Jotun paint type for the remaining walls. I would greatly appreciate your guidance in selecting the most suitable shade — or in understanding if a different direction might work better — to create a cohesive and calm overall look.
Hi! :) I’m happy to help, but I’ll need the NCS-code or Jotun colour name of your kitchen cabinetry to give you a solid, professional assessment. Looking forward to hearing from you! :)
Hi :) Unfortunately, I’m not able to provide the exact colour or even the manufacturer of the kitchen. It’s a brand-new apartment and we’re moving in in three weeks, but I haven’t been able to find this information in any of the documents I received. Since I’m not sure whether the photos came through last time, I’m attaching pictures of the same furniture as ours here in case they’re helpful. I completely understand that it may be more challenging to give a precise assessment without the exact colour reference, but I would really appreciate any guidance or suggestions for wall colours that could work well with this kitchen. I’m planning to order a few samples and test them in the space, but it would be incredibly helpful to narrow down the options a bit first. Thank you so much in advance for your help! :)
Hi again! :)
Since the NCS-code for your kitchen cabinetry is unknown, it becomes especially important to evaluate each colour directly in the room, under the lighting conditions and against the materials you already have. This is the only reliable way to ensure the undertones harmonise with the kitchen rather than compete with it.
Thank you very much for the detailed explanation and for suggesting these colours! I really appreciate the guidance. It’s especially helpful to understand the different undertone directions and how they might interact with the kitchen and lighting in the room. We had already been considering Hvit Te and Soft Touch, so it’s nice to hear that we seem to be on the right track. We will definitely order some samples and test them in the apartment as you recommended. Thank you again for taking the time to help — I really appreciate it! Have a great rest of the week! :)
