Dear Jotun Colour Advisors, First of all, I would like to thank you for creating such an exceptional range of products. Over the years I have used several Jotun paints in my home, and I have been consistently impressed by both the quality and colour experience they provide. Your products truly add life, warmth, and personality to our homes. I am currently considering some updates to several rooms in my house and would greatly appreciate your professional advice. 1. Living Room One feature wall in my living room is painted with LADY Pure Color 6084 Sjøsmaragd (S4020-B50G), and I absolutely love the depth and character that this colour brings to the room. The opposite wall is currently painted white, and I would like advice on whether there is a complementary colour that would work particularly well with Sjøsmaragd. Since the living room is part of an open-plan space connected directly to the kitchen, I would appreciate recommendations that create a harmonious transition between the two areas. I am open to both: A complementary colour for the current white wall. A broader colour palette recommendation if you believe another combination would work even better with another colour for the living room. 2. Kitchen The kitchen is currently painted white, but I would be open to painting it in the same colour recommended for the living room in order to create a more cohesive flow throughout the open-plan area. The kitchen tiles will remain unchanged. I would appreciate advice regarding: A suitable wall colour for the kitchen. A suitable colour for the kitchen cabinet doors that would complement both the kitchen and the Sjøsmaragd wall in the living room. I have previously used LADY Tre & Panel and LADY Supreme Finish on woodwork and cabinetry with excellent results and have been very impressed with the finish and durability. For the cabinet doors I am considering halvblank (semi-gloss), but I would appreciate your recommendation regarding both colour and finish. 3. Master Bedroom I would also appreciate a recommendation for the master bedroom. I am looking for something warm, calm and inviting, creating a relaxing atmosphere suitable for rest and comfort. I am open to both earthy neutrals and muted colours if you feel they would fit well with the overall colour scheme of the house. 4. Children's Bedroom I would appreciate recommendations for the children's bedroom as well. I am looking for a colour that feels welcoming, cheerful and timeless, while still harmonising with the rest of the home. Additional Information The living room and kitchen form one open-plan living space. Existing feature wall: LADY Pure Color 6084 Sjøsmaragd (S4020-B50G). Hallway upstairs is painted white. Third bedroom is painted with LADY Pure Color 7685 Subtle Green (S3010-G40Y). Mouldings, doors, door frames and ceilings are white. Existing kitchen tiles will remain unchanged. I have attached photos of the living room, kitchen, master bedroom, children's bedroom, hallway is painted white and the third bedroom painted in Subtle Green to help illustrate the overall flow of the house. Thank you very much for your time and expertise. I am excited to hear your recommendations and discover how I can create a cohesive colour palette throughout our home.
Hi! :)
When working with 6084 SJØSMARAGD, I would strongly encourage you to test 1156 KRONBLAD or 1369 SOL. Both shades complement 6084 SJØSMARAGD beautifully and help create a warm, inviting atmosphere. If you want subtle variation between the living room and kitchen, these tones can be combined very well. For instance, 1369 SOL in the living room and 1156 KRONBLAD in the kitchen — and you can comfortably repeat 1369 SOL on the kitchen cabinetry to tie the spaces together. For the main bedroom, I recommend trying 20162 MELLOW on both walls and ceiling to achieve a calm, cocooning feel. If you prefer a bit more depth, you could consider using the deeper 2993 KILIM on the ceiling. Darker bedrooms support the body and mind in winding down as night falls. For the children’s room, I suggest testing the lighter 20118 AMBER RED or 6383 IMAGINE, as both offer a gentle, uplifting expression suitable for a playful space. :)
Colors on the screen may differ from the actual color, so we always recommend that you consider physical color slats or sample coats. Remember that your lighting conditions, floor and furniture can affect the experience of the color.
